<p>As reported to the journal, Nature Biotechnology, scientists from John Innes Centre, Norwich, succeeded in creating a new type of tomato variants with the combination of genes from the Snapdragon flower or magi Antirrhinum.</p>
<p>Snapdragon flower is known as one of the plants, which are rich in anthocyanins, substances that are also found in various types of dark berries such as blackberry, cranberry and chokeberry.</p>
<p>In recent research, tomato genetically engineered and tested in mice in the laboratory. The result, groups of mice with cancer who are given a purple tomato survived significantly longer than mice with the standard diet group, whether given or not given a regular tomato.</p>
<p>&#8220;The effect was larger than we expected,&#8221; said lead researcher Cathie Martin, who also plant biologists.</p>
<p>Martin added, although fruits such as blackberries or blackcurrants nutritious prevent cancer, heart disease or neurological disorders, but not many people who eat them.</p>

<p>Instead, researchers found that on average children aged two to 18 years who were given drinks instead of fruit juice does not meet the recommended intake levels for a number of important nutrients, including vitamins A and C and folic acid.</p>
<p>&#8220;One hundred percent fruit juice plays an important role in the diet of children and adolescents, to supply essential nutrients during the growth and development,&#8221; said Dr. Carol O&#8217;Neil. The survey was conducted after another study found that drinking juice instead could create cavities and cause obesity.</p>
